The Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Passports, committed to streamlining its work, in line with the government’s endeavor to improve the quality of life in the Kingdom, as directed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and as stipulated in the Saudi Vision 2030, bolstered its e-services to citizens, residents, and visitors.
As a result, in 2023, the directorate carried out over 41 million electronic operations, encompassing more than 100 services for beneficiaries both locally and internationally.
In a bid to simplify its operations, the directorate bolstered its Tawasul service, offered through the Absher (Ministry of Interior's e-portal) and through the Muqeem portals, which resulted in over three million interactions. It also established several communication channels: a unified call center, to be reached by calling 992, an official email address, and social media accounts.
The directorate also expanded its ability to serve pilgrims undertaking Hajj, Umrah, or visiting, facilitating their arrival and departure at the Kingdom's border points through qualified multilingual staff that guides pilgrims at airports, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of immigration formalities, and catering to those benefiting from the Makkah Route Initiative. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Interior's Pilgrim Experience Program, one of the Vision 2030 programs. In 2023 (1444 AH Hajj season), the directorate served 242,272 pilgrims through this initiative, processing visas electronically, collecting vital information, and speedily carrying out immigration procedures.
The emphasis on e-services aligns with Vision 2030's focus on efficient and effective government performance. It facilitates swift processing, broader access to digital government services, and enhanced user convenience.
