The National Center for Security Operations (NCSO) monitors the security situation in all regions of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It co-ordinates with the security authorities and other relevant government bodies to deal with emergencies as required by the security situation. Accordingly, the Center is assigned the following tasks:
The Tasks:

National Center for Security Operations supervises unified security operations (911) in Riyadh, Makkah and Eastern Province regions

Control the general attitude of security situation in Saudi Arabia; monitor and analyze negative indicators and submit to power with the solutions proposed, to facilitate decision-making process on daily bases.

Forward orders and notify security sectors of raising or lowering the state of alert upon the issuance of such instructions by the competent authority.

Manage crisis and security issues if exceed the capacity of the security in the region or if extend to more than one region.

Co-ordinate security efforts to deal with the events according to security plans for each case.

Co-ordinate with relevant government institutions to follow-up contemporary events taking into account co-ordinated regulations and procedures within security sectors.

Follow-up daily events with operations units in order to check out the security situation for submission of immediate report on emergencies to the decision-maker.

Document daily security information according to the degree and type of event and report to authority.

Receive important communications, verify them and submit to relevant authorities.

Pass warning information to security sectors and to sectors responsible for the security of vital installations and embassies of foreign states and residential complexes.

Document security plans prepared by security sectors and prepare overall security plan based on security situation.

Monitor the reactions of citizens and residents about the political, security, economic, social and health issues; and analyse and submit periodic reports thereon.

Provide management and geographical information through the NCSO's geographic information (administrative and operational system) for security sectors.

Follow-up international security crisis and events, and the internal impact of such event; and prepare scenarios, assumptions.

Assess procedures, observations and proposed solutions for future use.

Review the performance of the Centre, rectify deficiencies and push up performance.

Execute any tasks subsequently assigned to the Centre by the competent authority.
